What's Trending? A/W 18

It's late November already, how did that happen? I think it's safe to say that we are well and truly into Autumn.

A couple of weeks back I did the standard season change over of my wardrobe and at the time I wondered if I'd maybe jumped the gun a bit, but now that I'm leaving for work in the morning when it's somewhere between 5 and 8 degrees, I am reassured that I made the right decision at the right time.

I'm now in full swing of chunky knits and layering up. All I need now is cosy nights in and Baileys hot chocolate. Before we know it, it'll be completely acceptable to have chocolate every morning with the excuse being, it's December!

Autumn/Winter is my favourite time of the year. I know, shock horror, a blogger loving autumn but there's something about autumn that just warms my heart.

I feel like A/W 18 has produced so many trends that I have fallen in love with and may find myself being a little bit indulgent.

So let's get to it shall we?

Animal Print

First up, animal print. I have always been a lover of anything snake print, but I used to absolutely detest leopard print. I'm not going to hold back here, I thought it looked cheap and nasty. However, there are some brands now who's designs look amazing, and they have made me change my mind on certain styles. Enter Never Fully Dressed, there is now a leopard print design that I would invest in.

Never Fully Dressed

Topshop

This snake print skirt from Topshop is incredible. I cannot explain how much I love it. The only problem I have at the moment is I am in between sizes and neither fit. But this is one of those skirts that automatically makes you feel like the sexist person alive.

Silver

When it comes to jewellery, I tend to stick to gold. I feel like it goes with more, but when it comes to clothing I am all for the silver trend! I think it helps any outfit stand out that little bit more and can instantly make you feel dressed up.

Astrid & Miyu

I think Astrid & Miyu pieces are stunning. They are so delicate and classy. I know featuring this necklace goes again what I just said about mainly wearing gold jewellery but it does also come in rose gold, so there are plenty of options!

Nasty Gal

While browsing through Nasty Gal's website I fell in love with this whole outfit. There's something so seasonal and Christmassy about it that I absolutely love. When I was younger (much younger) I went through a star obsession. Following that, I kind of vowed to myself I would never wear stars again. But here I am doting over this blouse as well, I guess I can break my rule as long as I don't go overboard, again.

Zara

Zara

Sequins during autumn and winter, need I say more! Perfect for any Christmas party.

Whistles

I love a Whistles clutch. I have one in snake print (obviously) and it is one of my favourite accessories. I'll take one in every colour please!

Leather

Every Autumn/Winter when I do my wardrobe change over I get excited about the fact my leather skirts are going to be back making an appearance. Faux leather of course, I'm not made of money...

Asos

Just look at that blue. In the past I have been guilty of only buying black leather items but I have started to branch out a bit now and experiment more with colour. Similar to the snake print skirt previously featured, I believe this skirt would make you feel incredibly sexy and powerful!

All Saints

Again, I think if you're going to invest in a leather jacket from the likes of All Saints that it should be black. But that being said, I have loved pastel pinks for so many years now that I struggle to believe that this jacket would go out of fashion for me. Even if it does, give it a couple of years and guaranteed pastel pinks would make a comeback.

Topshop

Asos

I am quite aware that I have featured a lot of skirts in the piece, and I'm not even sorry. The double belt detail on this skirt makes it so special. Although it is high waisted, it's not too short. Team up with your favourite ankle boots and you're good to go, day or night.

Moda In Pelle

I am so in love with these boots. I first saw them when I was in Jersey and I have been thinking about them ever since. I'm not really a fan of kitten heels but I would absolutely make an exception for these!

Pleats

Ahh pleats, my old faithful friend. Whenever I put on a pleated skirt I feel like a princess and just want to spin around. Team up with an oversize chunky knit and you're good to go!

Nasty Gal

If this skirt doesn't say Christmas I don't know what does. In the past I've been one for more neutral and pastel tones, but I think this is really special. I'm not as much as a heel person as I'd like to be so my normal go to footwear is trainers which I think works equally as well.

Whistles

Marks and Spencer

I love this skirt, the only thing that personally holds me back is the waistband. However, that can easily be hidden with a super slouchy knitwear, or you could even possibly get away with covering it with a belt.

I am all for the red/pink colour contrast.

Zara

Pleats aren't just for midi skirts, which is super important to remember. Team up with a pair of tights in the winter and go bare legged in Summer and you have got yourself a multi seasonal skirt.

Missy Empire

Browns

Never did I think that I would highlighting my favourite brown pieces, but here we are!

As someone who religiously wears black I think it's a great alternative and a trend that is going to suit everyone. It can be anything from a simple pair of earrings to a super silky slip dress.

& Other Stories

I love a chunky jumper during winter as much as the next person. But I think it's really important to try these on as the last thing you want is a knitwear that is going to make you itch all day long. Brown and black is also another combination that I am loving!

Never Fully Dressed

Never Fully Dressed have done it again! Team up with a long sleeved polo neck and you're ready to take on those Autumn/Winter days.

Missguided

This coat is what dreams are made of. I'm completely in love with teddy coats (so much so that I'm wondering where I didn't feature it as a trend.)

The different tones make this piece stand out from the rest and it can be dressed up or down. Shopping trip with the girls, absolutely. To make an entrance to your Christmas party to then reveal you killer outfit, hell yes.

Must Have Advent Calendars of 2018

Last year I put together a post about some of my favourite advent calendars that were on offer. I enjoyed writing the piece so much, I thought I would do the same this year!

I guess these advent calendars have become a bit of a tradition. Until this year, I've always stuck to the usual oldie but goodie advent calendar of chocolate. However, this year my sister and I have gone halves on a beauty one which I am very excited about! But I think I'll save that one to the end.

Here we go then, my must have advent calendars for 2018!

Tesco

Alongside my beauty calendar I am still going to be having a chocolate calendar. December mornings just wouldn't be the same otherwise.

I think the Heroes calendar is such a good idea, if you're like me, the thought of not knowing which chocolate I'm going to get each morning is something to get excited about (easily pleased I know). If Heroes don't tickle your fancy Quality Street and Celebration have also created their own!

Waitrose

It was only yesterday that I had a gin and tonic and actually quite enjoyed it. When it comes to alcohol I'm guilty of needing something sweet, but I also agree that there's probably a gin out there for me, I just need to find it.

For all you gin lovers though this calendar can be found at Waitrose for a pretty reasonable price of £60. Like all calendars I think this is a great opportunity to try new products that you might like and in this case, that's gin!

If gin isn't your tipple of choice there's plenty of other alcoholic beverage alternatives which can be found using our wonderful friend, Google.

The Body Shop

Last year I was working for The Body Shop at Home and for some reason I thought it would be best not to feature their advent calendars as I guess I didn't want to be an annoying representative. I do however, think that their advent calendars are great.

They have three on offer ranging from £45 to £99 and have a great selection of their products. Each year they also release their Christmas fragrances. Last year my obsession was with frosted berries, this year it's peppermint candy cane.

Aldi

Remember when Aldi released their candles that were so similar to Jo Malone that the whole of the UK went mad? Well they have gone and taken it one step further and for the first time ever they have released their own advent calendar. At £50 it's still not cheap, but perfect for anyone who fell in love with their candles and want to try the beauty products.

Lookfantastic

And I've saved the best til last!

Yesterday I attended the Stylist Live event and Lookfantastic were just one of the many stands there. I have never signed up to receive their beauty boxes, but my sister has and she loves getting them every month. Their stand was great and gave you the opportunity to put together your own box of 5 products for £15. Loving a bargain we found out we could get a box for free when purchasing one of their advent calendars.

I'm not made of money so the thought of £60 (a special offer at the event) on a calendar is quite a lot to me. But my sister and I have decided to split the cost and equally split the products. This might also be a great idea for anyone who would like to do the same!

So there you have it, my favourite advent calendars for 2018! I'd love to hear which ones you will be purchasing and getting excited to open come the 1st of December!
